The Gaon of Vilna is a Jewish Sage from the 18th century, the most predominant expositor of the topic of the mysterious concept of Mashiach ben Yosef. Judaism has much to teach about the Mashiach ben David, the One expected by Judaism to rule in the footsteps of King David. But very scarce details are provided in the abundance of writings of the Jewish Sages for Mashiach ben Yosef,
Our latest research into the Gaon’s writings (after which we have named our Promotional Vision of the Regathering of the exiles – especially the Lost House of 10-Israel), and their Reconciliation with the House of Judah Judaism, 2 Tribes), have been astoundingly revealing. It provided staggering confirmation of the conclusions that we have arrived at ourselves over the last few months, regarding “The Mashiach” – that mysterious Figure referred to in the introduction here above. In short: If the Gaon is correct about the Divine Mandate of the Mashiach ben Yosef, then there awaits a rude awakening for both Judaism and Christianity about where and who this Mashiach is in the Light of the staggering confirmations and Insights provided by the Gaon, from the Scriptures, about this Mashiach.
If correct – and it no doubt is, as proven by virtual developments in the World which clearly point to the Coming End Time Final Redemption! – then both religions have been totally off-beam with their contending interpretations, declarations and beliefs of “A Mashiach!”
In this Gaon Study #2 on Mashiach ben Yosef:
- we will concentrate on yet another Identifying Mark for MbY from the Gaon’s writings in his book Kol Hator.
- We will also then initiate our future planned discussions on the True Identity of MbY as a Body of People, rather than a specific Divinely sent Personage.
Identifier #1, O -“The purpose of gathering in the exiles is to wage God’s war against Amalek, which was the main mission of Joshua, in line with Mashiach ben Yosef. The war against Amalek includes every aspect, against all the enemies of Israel, including Armilus, the prince of the mixed multitude. It is also intended to remove the spirit of impurity from the Land, and to bring ” Knesset Israel and Shechinah from below, from the earth.” (Kol Hator, pg. 8, 2nd par.).
In our review of the identifying signs that the Gaon finds in Scripture for Mashiach ben Yosef, we have listed 14 other identifiers. These all testify to, and raise the puzzling question: Where is this MbY if he really complies with these Scriptural identifiers? He should be “well and alive,” and amongst humanity since the 18th century. These are all amazing identifiers, like the rebirth of modern Jewish Israel on its Jewish foundations after Jews have been brutally persecuted and murdered for 2000 years. Where is MbY if Scripture claims him to be the ‘sole initiator’ of these grotesque signs, each of which depends on a virtual miracle to take place?
We will now address the claims of this Identifier #1, O:
We have seen from Identifier 1, G, that “the MbY’s main goals are to gather in the exiles, and rebuild Jerusalem.”
From identifier #1, D: “All the deeds concerned with ingathering exiles in the Land of Israel in general, and in Jerusalem in particular, every general and private act, everywhere of everyone together or separately–all these depend on the existence and success of Mashiach ben Yosef. “
From identifier # 1, B: “According to the Gaon, all the work involved in gathering in the exiles, building Jerusalem and broadening the settlement of the land of Israel so that the Shechinah will return to it, all the principles of the work and all the major and minor details are connected to the mission and role of the first Mashiach, Mashiach ben Yosef. “
And then the Gaon- perhaps unintentionally at the time, gives the answer: a hint towards the MbY being a Group Body: Who?
We learn from identifier # 1, A: “The mission of the great Gaon (who claims the Divine Mandate for being ‘the Light of Mashiach ben Yosef’), with regard to the final generation, is as follows: “All the steps, all the rules, and details concerning the period from the beginning of the Redemption until its conclusion, which includes the ingathering of exiles and settlement of the Holy Land–all these are the assignment of the exiles and settlement of the Holy Land–all these are the assignment of the first Mashiach, Mashiach ben Yosef.”
Is this not surely logical?
If the Return of Exiles, the re-building of Jerusalem, and the settlement of the Promised Land against awesome odds and opposition of the entire World, are not in the hands of the returning exiles – then, who else?
It seems that the resolve to this puzzling question of the Identity of “The Messiah” is so clear that “we cannot see the forest for the trees.”
The Mashiach ben Yosef will be the Body of returning exiles (to Torah, the One True God, and the Land). The descendants of Avraham to whom the Blessing of Blessings was made by the Creator – to include Gentiles, innumerable numbers of them, as uncountable as the dust of the earth, the stars of Heaven.”
This is the first of a series of conclusions that we will draw to provide confirmation from Scripture of this awesome End Time Revelation.
Why will Avraham’s descendants include innumerable masses of Gentiles (non-Jews)?
The answer hereto will confirm the often-quoted Rabbinical observation that the exile of Israelites amongst the nations will serve to bring the Glory of HaShem to all the nations. Unfortunately though, the fast-evolving phenomenon over the last few decades of increasing masses of non-Jews from amongst all nations who are turning to Torah, Judaism, and the zeal to settle in the Land of Israel, rather than being welcomed by Jews, are regarded as a grave risk for Judaism. Two thousand years of having been persecuted by these Gentiles have driven Judaism into a self-protection ghetto mode, thus providing the opposing forces mentioned by the Gaon, namely Armelis, etc, with exactly the tools they seek, i.e. to prevent the Restoration of Israel and the Return of the Exiles from establishing the Universal Kingdom Rule of God.
This is what makes the Regathering of the Exiles, Return to the Land, and resettling of the Land the Prime End Time requirement of God. This is what the Mashiach is required for – not a single Personage simply entering on the World Stage to become the Universal Ruler from Jerusalem over the nations, but a Body of People, inspired (anointed) by God to promote and further the return of Exiles, to build and re-establish the Land, Divine Rule, and Truth – CLICK on this Link for a MUST READ. This is confirmed clearly in Daniel 7:27 and throughout the Tanach (O.T.) – though not glaringly, and certainly swamped by our religious cultural concepts.
This will serve to glorify the God of Israel and Creation. Thus, the exile of de-covenanted 10-Israel and lost Jews (as a result of persecution) having driven these Israelites amongst the nations, will actually make Gentiles of them – thus bringing God to the Nations.
THIS is what the Mashiach is required for – the Mashiach ben Yosef as defined by the Gaon of Vilna i.e. that re-living Skeleton of Ezekiel 37, re-born Ephraim, to unite with Judah to become a Body of People – God’s ‘Servant,’ seeking and inspiring the exiles to return to the Covenant, to Torah, to the One True God of Israel, to resettle the Land of Israel, build Jerusalem – to prepare the Land and the Nation for becoming the Abode where God will dwell forever amongst His People – Mashiach ben David, ruling over the Nations.
At his initial stage, we would like to add one other such revelation from Psalm 132:
Psalm 132 confirms that the Mashiach will not be a single Personage but a Body of People
It then continues to define His Mashiach:
Who will He set upon David’s Throne?
His Covenanted People – NOT an individual Personage, ‘they’ shall sit upon David’s Throne forever!
Where will they rule from?
God then concludes His Declaration to David in a Divine Approval of Zion as His Dwelling Place:
| שָׁם אַצְמִיחַ קֶרֶן לְדָוִד; עָרַכְתִּי נֵר, לִמְשִׁיחִי. | 17 I will make a King sprout there from David’s line and prepare a Lamp for My Anointed (Mashiach). |
This confirms His stated Divine Intention to create a Light for the Nations in His End Time Effort to formulate a Body of People whom He calls “His Servant.” This Body of People will be “The Mashiach.”
