The Time Setting for Messiah ben Yosef

Judaism has presented many purported Messiahs throughout the centuries.

The most prominent of these were:

Jesus (Yeshuah) of Nazareth (1^st century CE). – Being the first, his popularity also increased throughout time to this day when he is followed by some 2 billion believers (mostly Christians).

Shabtai Zvi (17^th century CE)

Bar Kochba *2^nd century CE).

Rabbi Schneerson, 20^th century, Famous Chabad Rabbi. Posters proclaiming him as Messiah still appear on many walls of Jerusalem buildings and pavements.

The yet unanswered question remains: When will this Messiah appear who is proclaimed by Bible scholars to be ruling on ancient King David’s throne in a Universal Kingdom to be erected by God, from Jerusalem, over the nations and this has not cometo be yet.

Enter the Gaon of Vilna onto the stage

Proclaimed to be the most famed and informed Rabbinic Sage of all time, the Gaon of Vilna (1720 – 1797) himself claimed to have been called by God the bring the Light of the Mashiach ben Yosef to the World.  Refer to our article #3 in the series of Messianic Identifiers by the Gaon.

The Gaon proclaimed the Time Setting for the Mashiach ben Yosef, according to what was revealed to him in the Scriptures, as follows:

“The Gaon began revealing secrets of the Torah when he was 20 years old, in 5500 [of the Jewish Biblical Calendar, corresponding to 1740 CE.] during the ‘first hour’ of the morning on Friday in the 6th millennium [the 6^th day].  Then, the Spirit of God, the spirit of the Mashiach, began to move in his holy spirit, to uncover mysteries in the Torah little by little in accord with the mission of the first Mashiach. These were revelations of the deep mysteries and profound secrets associated with the footsteps of the Mashiach, and no secret was hidden from him [the Gaon].”   (Kol Hator – 4 Pg. 3).

“As we stand on the threshold of the beginning of Redemption (when “the songbird’s time has arrived,’  which is the year 542 of the 6th Millennium),  (Kol Hator, Pg 1). 

The Gaon regarded the actual start of the Final Redemption as occurring in the 2^nd hour, after an initial 1st-hour preparation starting in 5500 / 1740 CE.

“The Gaon then began travelling to the Holy Land at the beginning of the second hour, that is in 5542 [1782].”  (4 Pg. 3).

“Generally speaking, the beginning of the Redemption, otherwise known as the footsteps of the Mashiach, began the first hour of Friday morning [the 6^th Day] in the 6th millennium, that is, the year 5500 [1740]. and from hour to hour, the footsteps have continued to progress in many aspects. As is known, every hour consists of 41 years and 8 months, counting from the time that the bonds on the Mashiach’s steps were loosened, … Beginning with the second hour (i.e., from 5042 [1782]), the entire House of Israel entered the picture, both as a whole, and with regard to each individual member of the nation, as an order from above, of the Mashiach of the beginning of the Redemption, namely, Mashiach ben Yosef.”  (last par.  Pg. 3).

We have thus far not found any further date specifications in the Gaon’s writings for these 12 final ‘hours’ of the 6^th day – which, according to the Gaon, represents some 42 years each.  12 hours thus, from the year 5500 (1^st hour of the 6^th Day) will take us to the year 2240 CE – some 220 years ahead. That will be the End of the Millennium and the start of the 7^th or Shabbat Millennium,  i.e. the Universal Kingdom Rule Era of God. Scripture is clear that this period will be cut short by HaShem – at His discretion.  

CONCLUSION

The fascinating factor in this Time Line which started 550 / 1740 CE, is that it coincides with the historic first, of an era of unprecedented advance in society. Only some 7 centuries ago, i.e. in the 14^th century CE, the printing press was developed by Guthenburg. It took him one year to complete the printing of his first edition, the Bible – 200 copies. Most people could not read at that time – for there were no books really floating around. The Bible was locked away in the Church, and sparse Scrolls, burdensomely written by Jewish Scribes, were available in synagogues and study centers. Today, even children have cell phones with an abundance of archived knowledge available at the press of a button.

Population Growth – It is estimated that the world population reached one billion for the first time in 1804, i.e. 5500 years since Creation, to reach 1 billion.  NOTE – that occurred, if we follow the Gaon’s Timeline, in the beginning (2^nd hour) of the start of the Creator’s Final Redemption. It took only another 123 years to reach two billion in 1927, then only 33 years to reach three billion in 1960. Thereafter, it took 14 years for the global population to reach four billion in 1974, 13 years to reach five billion in 1987, 12 years to reach six billion in 1999, 12 yrs to reach 7 billion in 2011, and in Nov. 2022, 8 billion!  Behold:  It took 5,500 years for the World population to reach 1 billion. Then, as Divinely purposed, the Final Run-down Time Slot (according to the Gaon), which allowed for the Awakninhg towards the Final Redemption and the Restoration of Israel,  took only some 220 years to add another 7 billion souls!!  Humanity has 7-folded in this End Time Restoration Awakening period of Mashiach ben Yoseph.

What could the Divine Purpose be herewith?

Scientific and Industrial Revolution – from around 1760 to about 1820-1840 – again, that 1^st and 2^nd hour of the Awakening of the Final Redemption according to the Gaon! The World subsequently somersaulted with progress and advance on all levels of life.

Religious Reformation in Christianity – The Catholic Reformation was the intellectual counter-force to Protestantism, initiated by the Council of Trent (1545 CE). From Protestantism followed further Great Christian Reformation, leading gradually to the igniting of Hebraic Restoration (Adventist Church 1840 restoring the 7^th Day Sabbath, to various other movements which started restoring Torah Truths in what became known over the 19^th and 20^th centuries as the Hebrew Roots Restoration Movement – an unaffiliated, loose group movement growing forth out of Christianity in an advancing process of restoring Torah Truths amongst Christians. These souls gradually and increasingly started exiting the Church. They since have found themselves ‘in the Wilderness’ with ever-advancing Restoration of Jewish Torah Faith truths. Hundreds of these people have since converted to Judaism and Returned to the Land of Israel as Jews.

So, the Gaon’s projections from ‘hints’ in Scripture which have been revealed to him about a Great Awakening also in religion, amongst God’s people and all created beings of all nations, coincide spot-on with this End Time Awakening in order to restore Truth, to re-unite Israel and the World in general for an Edenic Era of Peace in the World.

What is greatly needed is an Awakening, especially amongst Bible believers of both Judaism and Christianity, regarding our human responsibility to advance Truth in this Awakening.
