Video commentary Parashat Va’yechi
– by Rabbi Yitzchak Breitowitz
Why is the Israel Nation (today represented in Judaism) made up of Twelve Tribes? What is true unity? Each of the Twelve Tribes reflects a unique path in life and adds that to the overall completion of the nation of Israel. These 12 characteristics are reflected in the 12-stoned breastplate that the High Priest of the Tempel wore. Twelve is the symbol for perfection – as in music: all the myriads of songs in the Western World are made up of 12 various notes only. For this reason, for unity and perfection, it is therefore required that ALL 12 Tribes return from exile and reconcile to reunite, thereby establishing the restored 12-Tribed Kingdom of Israel. This will become the Living Tempel for God to dwell amongst His People to rule over the nations in His Universal Kingdom. This is the core Message of Parashat Va’yechi (“And He lives …”) from the final chapters of Genesis. It reviews the Blessings of Ya’akov to the 12 Tribes, based on concealed secrets which he did not want to fully reveal to them about the End Time.
