Did God divorce the House of 10-Israel?
If so, how can He take her back as He promised?
Does the ‘New Covenant’ hold the Solution?
The God that declares “I hate divorce” came to face a harlot Bride Himself, a faithless Bride who “committed adultery …..” i.e. the “House of 10-Tribed Israel”, the Northern Kingdom, NOT the House of Judah – the Jews). He formally gave the House of Israel a writ of Divorce and exiled her from His Land into oblivion amongst the nations (ref. Scriptural confirmations here below).
This dramatic event underlies the Main Theme of the entire Final Redemption Plan as enshrined in the Scriptures, viz. the Return of and His Remarriage of His ‘Beloved Bride’ at the Final Redemption. This will occur after the Reconciliation and Restoration of His re-united 12-Tribed Kingdom of Israel. This entails the re-identifying of the ‘Lost House of 10-Israel’, their Return to the Land of Israel after millennia of exile, and the re-uniting with the House of Judah, whom HaShem had never divorced. The Final Redemption will launch the establishment of the Universal Kingdom of the reconciled and re-united 12-Tribed Israel.
The Divorce
Jeremiah 3:1
1 “If a man divorces his wife and she leaves him and marries another man, should he return to her again? Would not the land be completely defiled? But you have lived as a prostitute with many lovers— would you now return to me?” declares the LORD.
Jeremiah 3:8
Isaiah 50:1
Some commentators would deny that this was truly a ‘Writ of Divorce.’ However, the Torah confirms this as a ‘legal divorce’ by using exactly the same Hebrew term in its restriction of any re-marriage:
Deut. 24
This rejection of the House of Israel (Northern 10 Tribes) is also described in the book of Amos with Divine Decrees of doom and destruction – in 8 of the 9 chapters!
Yet – ….
Proof of God’s Love for His People
There can be no greater proof of the Creator’s never-ending Love for His Bride (His Covenanted People) than the resolve that He promises for her Return. Just 4 verses after His announcement of the Divorce, He undertakes the following amazing commitment:
Jeremiah 3
After 8 chapters of doom over 10-Israel, the last and (9th) chapter in its final 2 verses, reverses the doom with the same Turn and Proof of God’s Love for His People:
Amos 9
All for the Glory of God
This will draw the Nations to honour His Glory and Greatness to reach the pinnacle of the 6000 years of the Creation of mankind (as also described in the entire chapter 20 of Ezekiel).
Jeremiah 4
Amos 9
In this way the Blessing to Avraham will be fulfilled.
