Did God divorce the House of 10-Israel?
If so, how can He take her back as He promised?
Does the ‘New Covenant’ hold the Solution?
The God that declares “I hate divorce” came to face a harlot Bride Himself, a faithless Bride who “committed adultery …..” that is the “House of 10-Tribed Israel”, the Northern Kingdom, NOT the House of Judah – the Jews). He formally gave the House of Israel a writ of Divorce and exiled her from His Land into oblivion amongst the nations (ref. Scriptural confirmations here below).
This dramatic event underlies the Main Theme of the entire Final Redemption Plan as enshrined in the Scriptures, namely the Return of and His Remarriage of His ‘Beloved Bride’ at the Final Redemption. This will occur after the Reconciliation and Restoration of His re-united 12-Tribed Kingdom of Israel. This entails the re-identifying of the ‘Lost House of 10-Israel’, their Return to the Land of Israel after millennia of exile, and the re-uniting with the House of Judah, whom HaShem had never divorced. The Final Redemption will launch the establishment of the Universal Kingdom of the reconciled and re-united 12-Tribed Israel.
The Divorce
1 “If a man divorces his wife and she leaves him and marries another man, should he return to her again? Would not the land be completely defiled? But you have lived as a prostitute with many lovers— would you now return to me?” declares the LORD.
1 “If a man divorces his wife and she leaves him and marries another man, should he return to her again?
Jeremiah 3:8
גJeremiah 3:88 And I saw, when, forasmuch as backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a bill of divorcement, yet treacherous Judah her sister feared not; but she also went and played the harlot.
Isaiah 50:1
✦דIsaiah 50:11 Thus saith HaShem: Where is the bill of your mother’s divorcement, wherewith I have put her away? Or which of My creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities were ye sold, and for your transgressions was your mother put away.
Some commentators would deny that this was truly a ‘Writ of Divorce.’ However, the Torah confirms this as a ‘legal divorce’ by using exactly the same Hebrew term in its restriction of any re-marriage:
“1 Thus saith HaShem: Where is the bill of your mother’s divorcement, wherewith I have put her away?
Deuteronomy 24
✦הDeuteronomy 24:1-41 When a man taketh a wife, and marrieth her, then it cometh to pass, if she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some unseemly thing in her, that he writeth her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house,
2 and she departeth out of his house, and goeth and becometh another man’s wife,
3 and the latter husband hateth her, and writeth her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, who took her to be his wife;
4 her former husband, who sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before HaShem; and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which HaShem thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
This rejection of the House of Israel (Northern 10 Tribes) is also described in the book of Amos with Divine Decrees of doom and destruction – in 8 of the 9 chapters!
Yet – ….

There can be no greater proof of the Creator’s never-ending Love for His Bride (His Covenanted People) than the resolve that He promises for her Return. Just 4 verses after His announcement of the Divorce, He undertakes the following amazing commitment:
Jeremiah 3
✦זJeremiah 3:12-1412 Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and say: Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith HaShem; I will not frown upon you; for I am merciful, saith HaShem, I will not bear grudge for ever.
13 Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against HaShem thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every leafy tree, and ye have not hearkened to My voice, saith HaShem.
14 Return, O backsliding children, saith HaShem; for I am a lord unto you; and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion.
✦חJeremiah 3:17-1817 At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of HaShem; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of HaShem, to Jerusalem; neither shall they walk any more after the stubbornness of their evil heart.
18 In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.
After 8 chapters of doom over 10-Israel, the last and (9th) chapter in its final 2 verses, reverses the doom with the same Turn and Proof of God’s Love for His People:
“18 In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.
Amos 9
טAmos 9:14-1514 And I will turn the captivity of My people Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
15 And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be plucked up out of their land which I have given them, saith HaShem thy God.
This will draw the Nations to honour His Glory and Greatness to reach the pinnacle of the 6000 years of the Creation of mankind (as also described in the entire chapter 20 of Ezekiel).
Jeremiah 4
✦כJeremiah 4:1-21 If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith HaShem, yea, return unto Me; and if thou wilt put away thy detestable things out of My sight, and wilt not waver;
2 And wilt swear: ‘As HaShem liveth’ in truth, in justice, and in righteousness; then shall the nations bless themselves by Him, and in Him shall they glory.
Amos 9
לAmos 9:11-1211 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof, and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old;
12 That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and all the nations, upon whom My name is called, saith HaShem that doeth this.
In this way the Blessing to Avraham will be fulfilled.
